Specializing in Clear and Concise Communication
Effective communication must be clear and persuasive: Clear so that the intended audience will understand your message, and persuasive so that your intended audience will respond to it in the way you desire. Unfortunately we don’t always have time to go back and assess our writing, and even if we do have time for proofreading, it’s not always easy to catch errors we made ourselves. Editing, though, is much more than proofreading.
A good editor will not only correct errors such as typos, grammatical mistakes, and misspellings, but will also consider word choice and organization – the “flow” of the work and the nuances of meaning. The job of an editor is to transform a mediocre text into a powerful presentation. Some people are surprised to learn that even highly regarded authors work closely with editors to improve their final products. Sometimes it’s just too hard to be objective about your own work, and editors are trained to consider texts from various perspectives.
And, of course, a poorly written text can reflect badly on you. That’s why you should consider hiring me to edit your next project. There are many scenarios in which you might need my services.
Imagine working overtime to get a project completed–12-hour days and back-to-back weekends — only to discover that the final product contains grammatical errors, typos, weak word choice, inconsistencies or other flaws.
Or maybe you’re a small business owner aspiring to take it to the next level, envisioning powerful promotional materials that will help your sales soar. But writing’s just not your thing. You have the vision and ideas, but expressing them clearly and concisely is a challenge. And besides, you’ve never been great with grammar.
Or perhaps you’re expected to present your company’s products at a conference where there will be lots of important people. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime! Unfortunately, you don’t feel confident about your slide presentation.
